Undeterred by XII Board Practicals, Over 9.65 lacs students Registered for JEE Main 2019

JEE Main 2019 application concluded on September 30, 2018, and over 9.65 lakh engineering aspirants have reportedly registered for JEE Main-1. Undeterred by the date conflict with XII board practical examination scheduled to be conducted in the month of January between 06-12, 2019, students have shown their determination for the most reputed engineering examination of the country. However, the total number of enrolment for the first phase of JEE Main 2019 is 2.5 lakh less than the total enrolment for JEE Main 2018. JEE Main 2019 will be held under the supervision of NTA. National Testing Agency will release JEE Main admit card for January examination, online on its official website on December 17, 2018.

A report of TOI revealed, “NTA has received a higher volume of JEE Main registration than predicted, as NTA officials have anticipated somewhere around 6 lacs registration for the first phase of JEE Main 2019”. Official reasoned, “Since JEE Main 2019 second phase exam will be conducted three months later and the preparation of board examination is on, we expected a considerable reduction in the number of enrolment for JEE Main 2019 first phase.” However, officials are expecting more candidates will appear for April examination as the majority of them who take the January test would try to improve their score and then those students who skipped the first phase of JEE Main 2019 will also enroll for April exam.”

JEE Main 2019 conducting body NTA will conduct the exam twice a year with some changes and improvements. The exam will be held in 276 cities pan India and also in 9 cities overseas. Additionally, more than 3777 test practice centers have been established across India for the engineering aspirants to prepare for the examination of which, 1049 are already opened for the students in September this year.

MHRD sources stated, there is a marginal decrease of 29% in the number of female applicants this year. Also, NTA has received 9% SC, 3.7% ST, and 38% transgender applications, for JEE Main-I, 2019. Reports revealed that maximum registration has come from urban areas, accounting to 54% of the total registration.

JEE Main has two papers i.e. Paper-I for B.Tech and Paper-II for B.Arch course. However, from JEE Main 2019, the exam will be held in 8 slots in multiple shifts and Paper-II will be conducted in a single shift.  

Engineering aspirants across the nation are appreciating the efforts of the government. The number of registration for the first phase of JEE Main 2019 is the proof of the statement. According, to the officials the number of registration is expected to rise for the second phase of the examination which is scheduled to be conducted between April 6- 20, 2019.

JEE Main is a computer-based examination held for admission to different B.Tech/ B.E. programs offered by 23 IIITs, 23 CFTIs, and 31 NITS. It is the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced.
