The MSN Search Engine at one time was wonderful! You'd create a new site and in a matter of days your site would appear in the index, people would search and find your site. About 2 months ago MSN did something; they made a major change and now sites that I have had good traffic from MSN are not even listed.

What Happened???

I've E-mailed back and forth with the MSN search engine people for a month, they tell me I'm crazy, that all my sites still show up. If this is true then where is my traffic? if you use the SITE: command on their web page, as I've always done in the past, there are no results. One day all my pictures (Images) show up and then the next day they don't. Can a company as large, as knowledgeable as savvy as Microsoft have made a mistake and aren't willing to admit to it? Surely I am not the only webmaster to experience this problem.

What are we as webmasters going to do about this? Are they trying to force PPC on us? Is this just such a complex problem that even Microsoft can't get to the bottom of it and fix it?

John Chow and company all boast about earning thousands and thousands of dollars per month, per year with their blogs. Here is the truth about earning money online.

It doesn't matter if you use a blog, a forum, any type of website, the key to earning money online is Traffic.

You can get traffic by paying for it, PPC, SEO Tools, and SEO promotion, but the real key to traffic lies in Search engine indexes. Even if you spend the money on SEO Promotion, you are not guaranteed that you will get search engine traffic. There are other factors involved in getting your site, your blog, or forum indexed. The format of the site, your use of Meta tags, the content on the site, all these things relate to how your index is rated. If it's rated high enough, then it will appear high enough in the listings for your chances of getting someone to click on your link in the search that they just performed. If you are indexed, and your index is rated high enough, you will get traffic, and you will make money.
PPC: This is the fastest way to drive traffic to your site or blog; this can also become a very expensive way to get traffic. The more you pay for a click the high your site is listed however there are compromises you must think about. You are paying 27 cents to have your adword ad appear on the first page for your search term, someone visits your site, see a adsense ad that they like and you just earned 2 cents for that click and they are no longer on your site. Did you make money? No and worse this person is no longer on your site, they are on someone else’s site. The default for adsense is to not open a new page; it overwrites that page it came from. PPC can be habit forming; you forget that you are trying to make money and only think about what you need to adjust to keep your site on the first page of results. Not even trying for the number one slot, but just trying to stay in the top 5 so you are sure to be on the first page. With discipline and a lot of forethought you can get your monies worth from PPC it takes time patience and practice.
SEO Promotion: Be careful of SEO promotions; they sign you up, you forget you signed up and then months later you notice a charge on your account for their services. Through experience I’ve not seen many results from using SEO Promotions, you can find on the web many free site submissions sites and through searches learn how to submit your site to all the top engines. I can get a new site in many engines with about 30 minutes of effort. http://seotoolsetc.com has links for submitting to the top three engines. Plus other links for learning about SEO on your own.
Other Factors:
Links are one of the most important ways of getting higher search engine rankings. Having other sites link to your sites plus linking you site to other sites. Reciprocal links are great; this is where your site links to another site and that site links back to yours. There are many way to accomplish this, but this is a time consuming task, take the time to build reciprocal links they are worth it in the long run. Also make sure that these reciprocal links are relevant; the site you link to has some relationship to your site.
Then there are outside factors that can change at the drop of a hat. One of my sites, a movie download site http://bestmoviedownloads.net was getting between 380 and 500 hits a day; yeah I know this isn’t much but they were free hits from real people looking for movie download sites. One day it dropped to around 30 hits a day... I was in shock! I began investigating and learned that http://Search.live.com had revamped their search engine and when they converted my site was missed. Several weeks later, with daily e-mails back and forth with Microsoft they finally got the problem corrected. A site like this, for movie downloads is only going to get new visits, rarely will people be going back to purchase anything because once you've purchased a membership to download movies there isn't any need to go back. You're online earning sources must be diversified so that you have several sources of income, not just one type of site or blog.

To recap, yes blogs can earn you money; the key to making money is Traffic, get traffic no matter what your blog, your site or your forum is about you need traffic for it to make money. Try some of the tips I’ve provided above and good luck on your online money making experience.
